Sorry for the lack of updates these last few days. You can blame two things: the combination of moving into our new place and a few days of the doldrums. I'm pretty sure anyone reading this knows me personally, so perhaps you know that my stress levels skyrocket when things are happening around me- good or bad. Jason has a normal work week this week, so that is providing me with a significant amount of alone time. Which, of course, gives me time to reflect and/or wig out. Anyway, any negative thoughts come and go. So, I'll soldier on and be fine, as I always am. I hate to bring up emotional stuff on here, but the idea of a blog is for you to follow me/us in our journey, so honesty is always best! Thanks for bearing with me- it means so much that I have so many friends and family members who love me and are rooting for us here.
We moved into the temporary apartment, which is pretty small and not really what we're looking for, which is fine because we have always planned on looking for a different place for the permanent residence. There isn't really room for our things which arrived yesterday from Philly, so we have loads of boxes (54 to be exact) surrounding us. Did you ever see that
I Love Lucy episode where the Ricardos are having something done in their apartment, so they move ALL of their things into the Mertzes' place? So, the memorable scene is when they can't find each other in the maze of boxes and furniture all over the tiny apartment. Yeah, it's kinda like that. The washer is this alien contraption that hooks up to the sink in order to wash clothes, and it doesn't dry them. So, on top of the boxes, we have hang drying everywhere! Needless to say, it will be nice to move somewhere with more space...and perhaps a washer that also dries. There's really no such thing as a washer AND a dryer here. Ahhh...European life!

Mountain of boxes...you can't even see them all! |

Could someone mail us our washer and dryer from back home, please? :) |
Jason is enjoying his job so far, which I'm happy about. After all, it's the core reason of why we're here to begin with. His days finish somewhere between 4 and 5:30, which is great. His last job kept him at work from 8am until 7 or 8pm sometimes. So, I imagine this new working lifestyle is like a cakewalk to him. I'm going to try and get him to post an entry on here, as I know some of you readers are his friends or family. I haven't found work or volunteer opportunities, but I'm working on that.
This weekend, we're going to explore the new neighborhood we may potentially live in and also try and find bikes for ourselves. It is, after all, the main method of transportation for almost everyone here. Walking has been nice, but just like Philly, it will be very nice to zip around quickly by bike.
Will check in again soon.

The view from our apartment. You can't really see it, but there's a lake at the end of the street. |

I got a picture with a posthumous Shelley Winters. She was hanging out at the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum. |

Hi Dear
Hope you're getting on better. I'm sure it's hard settling in, in a new country. I remember when Bryon was in Copenhagen he would wash his clothes and lay them all around the room to dry. In the summer he had a clothes line. I watch a lot of House Hunters International and I watch all these young people move to different parts of the World. I always think what an adventure so I hope your adventure has started. Hope you find your place in life there and have lots of fun. We will always be thinking of you and Jason. Luv U Guys. Mom Yoder
Are you sure that is a washing machine and not a bread maker?
Thanks, Rozena. Nice to hear from you. It's so funny how many people mention House Hunters when they've discovered we moved abroad. Maybe we should consider submitting an "audition", haha! Hope you are well and maybe we'll see you this summer. We will be venturing home for a few weeks in July.
Not sure...I'll try and make some bread later in it. Maybe it'll act as both and I've been missing the miracle of this contraption all along!
Right now your temporary place must look like a hoarders home. You will find some nice place that looks like IKEA and make it your new place. Just get a bedroom for your guests. If you make bread in your washing machine, it could be another epidode of I Love Lucy-the famous candy factory! :)
Is this one of those machines that both washes and dries in the same machine? I was talking to someone and they told me about what they saw at a friends place while they were visiting in London. My friend was absoultly crazy about the thing.
