to be or not to be (kronborg castle)

A day visit to the town of Helsingør (or in Shakespearean speak, Elsinore) where the infamous Kronborg Slot (castle) resides. The castle is where Hamlet's story took place. Now, me- I've never been much of a Shakespeare fan. In fact, I actually really dislike reading his work. Regardless, the castle was a really awesome experience and definitely worth the 45-minute trip from Copenhagen. Here are pictures from the day. We've added some notes to the ones that need explaining.

Please excuse the pictures being bigger than the template lines. They didn't look good if I made them any smaller. You probably don't care, but you know...my OCD and all :) -Howard-

Mini castle sculpture
Courtyard inside the castle

Holger the Dane statue. The legend is that he'll wake up whenever trouble comes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogier_the_Dane

Dungeon/below the castle

The main ballroom- still used for events today

One of the kings (possibly Christian IV)- he may have eaten a few too many herring sandwiches...

Door to the shitter and an exhibit showing where the shit goes :)

The "commode"

Famous tapestry that was stolen by Swedes when they raided the castle and somehow made its way back to Kronborg

A town square of Helsingør. Imagine tons of people relaxing and drinking out here when the weather finally warms up!

I wish you could have seen this shitter before you renowed 9th Street.
This looks like a really cool area, I imagine it is very nice there when the weather is warm.
